The Most Insta-Worthy Cafes in Busan, South Korea

Whenever I visit a new city, it is always one of my goals to scope out the trendiest, chicest, most Instagrammable restaurants and cafes. A majority of traveling consists of eating and drinking, and since white wine {and wine in general} is basically non-existent here in Korea, I’ve turned to iced lattes this spring and summer. It’s safe to say, over the last few months cafe hopping has become a specialty of mine. Surprisingly Korea has the most Insta-worthy cafes I’ve ever been to, and that includes Europe and the Americas.

Before visiting Busan, I Googled the ‘most Instagrammable cafes in Busan’ and found… not much. Therefore I wanted to share some of my favorite finds thus far. I have yet to visit all of them, and the list is constantly growing. Regardless, I think this list is a good place to start if you are looking to step up your Insta-game.

Waveon Coffee

After finding pictures of this cafe on Instagram, I immediately knew it was going on my Busan itinerary. This is probably the most insta-worthy cafe I have ever been to. Located directly on the beach, Waveon Coffee feels like the country club of cafes. It’s exclusivity at it’s finest, being very far away {north} from the center of town, and honestly a trek to get to. I mean, it has it’s own valet service and a queue that forms well before opening hours.

I didn’t notice any other foreigners when I arrived, and actually had a few Koreans ask me how I found it. The coffee itself is somewhat overpriced, but the desserts are well worth the price tag. Again, some of the best I’ve ever tasted. If you are feeling ambitious, I highly recommend making your way out to Waveon Coffee.

Lovesome {카페 러브썸}

Want to see an Instagrammer in their natural habitat? Come to Lovesome. Located on Cafe Street in Busan, Lovesome is a Instagrammers’ dream come true. The entire cafe is decorated in soft pink with rose gold accents, and the {not so} random {perfectly displayed} cactus or two. The cafe specializes in {surprise surprise} strawberry everything. From cakes to smoothies, everything you touch will be pink. Of course you can still order non-strawberry drinks, but why would you?

Godabang 양이양이 Cat Cafe

Located near the famous Jagalchi Fish Market in Busan, Godabang Cat Cafe is hidden within one of the busiest shopping areas. This is the first cat cafe I visited in Asia, and I was not disappointed. Cuddling cats while enjoying an iced latte? Sign me up. There is an entrance fee of $9.00 which includes a drink, and this cafe makes sure to keep the location as sterile as possible. Of course you can still expect hair present — they are cats. But overall, I was impressed with the entire experience. They also have a sister cafe in Seoul if it suits you to visit that location. You can see more on my recent vlog, here.

Canvas Cafe

Canvas Hostel is a highly rated hostel in the Haeundae district. It’s chic, clean, and welcoming. So it should come as no surprise that its cafe {right across the street}, shares the same qualities. Personally, I have never stayed at the hostel, but I can vouch for the cafe. It has a summer backyard BBQ vibe, all the while keeping classy with hanging lights and a clean aesthetic. You can order slushies at the outdoor window, or opt for an iced latte indoors to bring to the patio. Of course, they also have seating inside but I highly recommend listening to tunes with some gal pals outside.

Cafe Rooftop

Next time I visit Busan, I cannot leave without a visit to Cafe Rooftop. One thing I’ve learned about this coastal city is how spread out it is, making it difficult to get a lot  accomplished in a short period of time. Personally, I found myself on public transportation nearly half of the time I was in Busan {no thanks…}. Regradless, Cafe Rooftop is worth the journey. It’s located near Haeundae Beach {and when I say near I mean a 30 minute bus ride}, and overlooks the ocean. With neon signage and vibrant accessories, this cafe is just begging to be captured on screen.

On A Season

The most mysterious cafe of 2018: On A Season. I honestly cannot find this place. This dessert cafe looks stunning {and totally insta-worthy}. I can find the area of On A Season via Instagram geo-tags, but otherwise it’s as if it doesn’t exist. I promise to make it my mission in life to find this place next time I visit. And if any of you know more about it, please comment below! {Update – Jess stepped up to be the hero and provided us with the address below, so we can all thank her!}

Gongderine

Okay, this cafe is also somewhat of a mystery to me. I can certainly locate it, but I am a bit confused as to what’s on offer. Google translate tells me its a ‘flower selling cafe’, so there’s that. I know you must make reservations for this cafe because all of the photos on Instagram display couples {and friends but mostly couples} sharing a picnic basket full of goodies on the beach. It screams Insta-worthy even to those without an Instagram account. This cafe could be the reason you create one. That being said, the indoor interior is basic, chic, and a bit rustic. Easy to say, I am obsessed.

Skydong 831

Skydong 831 is a trendy cafe located near the Pusan University in Busan. The cafe gives off a retro vibe and would fit in perfectly if dropped in downtown Brooklyn. That being said, there is enough charm to attract a variety of customers. I wasn’t able to explore much of the university district, but I believe this is a pretty new cafe.
