TAPAS, TAPAS, TAPAS

I recently took time out of one of my busy beach days to have a wander about downtown Barcelona.

I started with Las Ramblas street.

Basically it’s an outdoor mall.

And oh the depression I felt being a budget traveler… Although temptation was there, I simply had to window shop and gaze longingly into the shops.

Luckily, Las Ramblas is full of free entertainment in the form of street performers! There are so many eccentric people lining the already tree lined street, tying to entertain the tourists.

It was a busy afternoon filled with crowds and crowds of humans. I was aware of pickpockets and although I looked like a fool wearing my oversized backpack on the front of my body, my camera, cell phone, and wallet thanked me.

I decided to continue my wander and headed deeper into the Gothic Quarter. You could, and should, easily get lost in the Gothic Quarter.

The streets are narrow and charming, and you won’t be swimming through crowds {for the most part}. There is a special type of serenity that I found while winding down the small streets of the Gothic Quarter.

I, of course, had to stop and take a peek at Catedral de Barcelona! And what a beauty she was.

By this time I was getting hungry, and as the title states, it was all about TAPAS, TAPAS, TAPAS!

If you ever get the chance, dine at Tapas 24. A bit pricier than your normal tapas plates, but these mini bites are to die for! I could have had at least seven tapas from the menu. And probably should have indulged. But when water costs you $2 every time you go out for a meal, you start to reevaluate your budget…

And we know how much water you need to consume in 85 degree heat.

But seriously, the tapas at this place. Go. Just go.

It was nice to get a taste of this beautiful city. Literally and figuratively.

Barcelona is truly one of a kind.

And now, I think it’s time to head back to the beach!

But not before your typical iPhone selfie.
