48 HOURS IN BATH: DAY 1

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting family in Bath. I arrived Friday evening and spent 48 exploring the village. Unfortunately, while on my visit, my phone completely shut down and died. RIP iPhone 5c.  Luckily, my new phone is ready to be picked up back here in London!

But who needs a phone when you have an entire weekend of exploring? I am going to share my 48 hours in Bath to give a quick summary and {as usual} a photo overload. Here is Day 1!

The Roman Baths

My first stop was, obviously, the Roman Baths for which Bath is famous. I have seen so many images of these baths circling the internet and it has been on my list of things to see since I arrived in the UK. They were quite interesting and I recommend them if you are ever in the area. Since it was a chilly morning, all I wanted to do was hop in the steaming water. Michael informed me when this used to be allowed, too many people were infected with diseases and infections. This was deterrent enough for me.

Lunch at The Pump Room

After exploring the baths for over an hour, it was time for a bite to eat. I treated Michael to lunch at The Pump Room. This chandelier lit room was the perfect escape from the grey weather we experiencing earlier in the morning. The room was serenaded by a three person band. The wait staff were dressed in black and white. The mood was very posh. Recommended for a taste of the high life without the high price. Oh you fancy, huh.

The Royal Crescent

I took a stroll through town and found my way to the Royal Crescent. The building itself is impressive and you are encouraged to take the tour for $10 {pounds}. Like any photogenic building, there always seems to be some sort of construction or renovation happening. This makes it hard to glorify your image as it is hard enough to capture the beauty of something via a DSLR or any other type of camera. I managed to find a door step filled with white roses and took advantage.

Original Hardy’s Sweetshop

Anyone who knows me, knows I have a thing for chocolate. I mean, I used to ask my boyfriend to hide the chocolate in our apartment seeing as I had no self control to not eat the entire lot of it. I figured I would step inside the Original Hardy’s Sweetshop and I was not disappointed. I felt like a golden ticket winner in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They offer every type of candy you could imagine. It’s worth a visit just to see the array of sweets.

Getting Lost

Well not entirely. It’s very hard to get lost in Bath. But you don’t have to be lost in order to find yourself strolling down charismatic cobble stone walkways. It’s almost impossible to find an ugly road in this village. I spent the rest of my day finding charm around every corner. I ended my night in an early fashion, seeing as my hosts we in their mid-80’s, by watching the Titanic and passing out. Gets me every time.
