OH MY GAUDÍ

by Rachel En Route August 10, 2016 No Comments

Since the beginning of my Europe 2016 trip planning, one of the main attractions luring me towards visiting Barcelona, was the incredible Antoni Gaudí architecture.

{and the beaches, but we’ve established that right?} Continue Reading

I recently took time out of one of my busy beach days to have a wander about downtown Barcelona.

I started with Las Ramblas street. Continue Reading

BARCELONA BOUND!

by Rachel En Route August 6, 2016 No Comments

Heaven is a place on Earth, and I found it in Barcelona!

Okay, let’s not get carried away here. I have only just arrived in Barcelona, but I am already extremely happy I chose to stay a total of five days. I’m going to be honest:

most of this time will be spent at the beach.

MAGNIFICENT MADRID

by Rachel En Route August 4, 2016 7 Comments

My final day in Madrid proved to be spectacular in comparison to my arrival. Once I received news that my bag would arrive that afternoon, I took it upon myself to explore! I didn’t have anything weighing on my shoulders, and I felt I could finally enjoy this majestic city. Continue Reading

PEACE, LOVE, AND LONDON

by Rachel En Route July 30, 2016 No Comments

The day has arrived. My last day of living in this fantastic city!

We all know what that means: time to drink some wine, reminisce, and shed a tear or two. I have had a life changing six months. I originally ventured to London to run away. Yes, run away. Like a six year old packing her lunchbox after a tantrum, and threatening to never return. Continue Reading

COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES

by Rachel En Route July 26, 2016 4 Comments

It’s officially Summer here in London!

I’ve worn shorts, dresses, and sandals all week long. The windows are left wide open when I fall asleep. I even participated in an outdoor movie night.

This is what I’ve been missing. Continue Reading

BRIGHTON BABES

by Rachel En Route July 22, 2016 4 Comments

So, what happens when you gather a few Kiwis, an Aussie lass, an Irish gal, a Brit, and an American hotdog, and let them loose in Brighton?

One of my best days since moving across the pond, that’s what. Continue Reading

THE GRAM

I’M HOME 🍇🇺🇸🫶🏻 Took the afternoo I’M HOME 🍇🇺🇸🫶🏻

Took the afternoon to go wine tasting with my parents on their anniversary 🍷 The thing I’ve missed the most (besides my people) is the California wine! And I’m lucky enough to have an entire world of wine essentially in my backyard.

Once again, Eiffel in love with this city 🇫🇷 Once again, Eiffel in love with this city 🇫🇷✨🪩

Day 2 in Paris 🫶🏻 Visiting Paris while they were setting up for the 2024 Olympics was an interesting experience. In 2016, one of my favorite memories was picnicking under the Eiffel Tower. I hoped to replicate the moment with my brother this time around, however the entire lawn was taken over by future volleyball courts 🏐

Sure there is scaffolding all around the city, the opera house looks like a billboard, and occasional metro stops are delayed. But overall, the magic of Paris remains intact 🪄 And there is nothing a fresh baguette can’t fix 🥖

The Olympics are iconic - almost as iconic as the city hosting them this year 🤪🤸🏼‍♀️🏋🏼🤽🏼🥎🎽 Personally, I will be tuning in to the gymnastics and swimming 📺 Which Olympic sports will you be watching this year?

Paris, I hope our paths croissant again 🥐 I ca Paris, I hope our paths croissant again 🥐

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s my fourth time to Paris 🇫🇷 It never fails to take my breath away, and I will constantly marvel in the magic that is this city.

I decided to finally check out the Montmartre neighborhood on this trip. Even in the rain, it’s easy to see why artists found inspiration here. Watching painters enjoy their craft was both fascinating and peaceful 🎨 Then to complete a day full of art, I ended the afternoon at the Musée National Picasso 🖼️

I like me better when I’m in Europe 🫶🏻🇨 I like me better when I’m in Europe 🫶🏻🇨🇿

And just when I thought the Czech Republic couldn’t get any more charming… Took the cutest day trip from Prague to Karlovy Vary this weekend. Karlovy Vary is A UNESCO recognized spa town 🧖🏼‍♀️🛁🫧 While spa treatments are absolutely available, the most popular activity is to bounce around and taste the mineral water from the numerous hot sprrings scattered around the town 💦
WEEKEND BITS IN PRAGUE 📷🦚🌿🚋 And the c WEEKEND BITS IN PRAGUE 📷🦚🌿🚋

And the countdown begins! I only have a couple of months left in Prague so I’m trying to pack in as much as possible 🫶🏻 This weekend was spent laughing over “salty cakes”, sharing pints, getting lost in gardens, and heaps of tram rides.

What should I add to my “czech” list before I leave?

📍Vojanovy Sady

There is no better time to visit Vojanovy Sady than April 🌿🌸 It’s open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and located in Malá Strana. This garden is serene and rarely crowded, so it feels like stepping outside of the city. Plus, you’ll find yourself surrounded by peacocks around every corner… literally 🦚

Easter markets in Prague 🐰🌷🐣 In Old Town Easter markets in Prague 🐰🌷🐣

In Old Town Square you’ll find the charming Easter market starting from March 15th until April 7th 📆 The market is open daily from 11:00 AM until 7 PM. It’s the largest in Prague and shouldn’t be missed!

You’ll find delicious food, hand painted eggs, and festive musical performances throughout the week. If you’re looking for things to do in Prague over Easter, pop into the market for a trdelník or spicy gingerbread 🫶🏻

Did I just find the best croissant in Prague? 🥐 Did I just find the best croissant in Prague? 🥐 It has been a mission of mine, since moving to Prague, to find the best croissant. And while Supernova Bakehouse is in the lead at the moment, the comment section in my last video had a plethora of suggestions I now must try! 🥰 (check out that video for all of the croissant recs)

Supernova Bakehouse is located in Holešovice and offers a variety of pastries. I personally opted for the pistachio croissant and my mouth was watering long after I left. This café is dog friendly and offers quite a bit of seating for its small interior. I will absolutely be back ☕️
