PUMPKIN SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE

Over a cozy phone call to my mother the other night, she mentioned how much she missed the blog. Which got me thinking about how much I, too, miss the blog. I could include a million disclaimers about my lack of presence on this space {gag me, we have heard it all before}, but instead I would rather just write.

Because, ultimately, that is what I miss most.

So, if you would be so inclined, let’s talk about pumpkin spice and everything Autumn {read: nice} shall we?

As of now, I have officially experienced every season in New York City. And guys, this is huge for me. I cannot think of the last location {other than good ol’ trusty California} that I stayed anywhere long enough to witness every season. I am rounding a year here in the big apple. I repeat, A YEAR. And what better way to tip my hat to the city I call home, I thought, than to take {yet another} stroll through the iconic Central Park.

Which is exactly what I did.

As always, the magic of the city did not disappoint. It was a crisp afternoon, which lent itself to a PSL {obviously} and a Christmas playlist on Spotify. Too soon? Never. {spoiler alert I am listening to Christmas music as we speak…. write/read}.

Earlier this year I wrote about the opportunity for growth that Spring brings with it. In Autumn, however, the focus is on change.

Every year, I claim that I “experienced the most change during the prior twelve months.” “What a life changing year that was?” The holidays allow for reflection, and somehow, the person standing in the mirror is unrecognizable as each year passes. I’m still me. In so many ways.

But I change. In so many ways too.

As they say, the only constant in life is change. The world is constantly changing around me. From my relationships to my zip code. From something as minor as my skin care routine to my entire perspective of my place here on the planet.

I mean, I’ve changed my preference in tea this year people.

Change is inevitable and something that, honestly, I crave.

It’s the reason I am incapable of remaining in one place for too long. I am always itching for a change. Always planning ahead. Can anyone argue that plot twists are the most exciting part of any story? Sure, the happy ending is nice. But it’s expected. As are so many things these days.

I am looking forward to meeting my reflection in the mirror a year from now. She will have changed even more so, offering the world more of herself in a multitude of ways.

Autumn reminds us that change can be beautiful. And most often is beautiful. So it should come as no surprise, that it is easily my favorite season. It should also come as no surprise that I anticipate many changes in the upcoming months of which I cannot wait to share.

But until then, I will be sipping my peppermint tea, in my Brooklyn apartment, re-watching Stranger Things, and trying to remember to switch my laundry over.

p.s. This one is for you Mom.

    1. Thank you so much! Personally, I think New York deserves mooooonths to explore, however for a quick trip a week would be the perfect amount. Maybe I will create a NYC week long itinerary! 🙂 Thanks again for the comment x
