JULIA ROBERTS FOR A DAY

We’ve all dreamed of being Julia Roberts in Notting Hill {we’ve all seen Notting Hill correct?}, and the other day I was able to live out this fantasy.

I made my way down to Notting Hill from the Notting Hill Gate Underground Station. The walk to the Portobello Road Market is very accessible and easy to follow. Before I even stepped foot in the market, I was already snap happy. I don’t think I put my camera away once.

The neighborhoods in Notting Hill are full of charm, elegance, and pastels. I found myself getting lost down small roads and alleys. And then I arrived at Portobello Road W11.

The sun came out just as I was entering the market which made for vibrant photos and a lovely afternoon. There were many fruit stands, bakeries, and meat vendors lining both sides of Portobello Road. Live musicians parked themselves in popular intersections and shop owners awaited their next customers patiently.

I was channeling my inner Julia the entire time.

^ books, remember these?

The shot above took a good number of attempts as a man picking up trash wearing a neon orange vest was patrolling this area. He did not blend in naturally to the shot. But he left me with a trash free photo, and for that I am appreciative!

If you ever get the chance to visit the Portobello Market, you must stop by Alice’s! It is an antique shop with so many treasures you will find yourself here for more time than you’ve planned if you aren’t careful. There is so much to see and so many details to the pieces. You can find this at the beginning of Portobello Road when you are coming from the Notting Hill Gate Station.

I stopped for a cuppa before ending my day of exploring Notting Hill.

^ but not before finding the bookshop! {I was not expecting it to have become such a tourist trap, and unfortunately I was hesitant to even post a picture of the now ‘Notting Hill Gift Shop’, but here it is}

^ and finally, the famous blue door going up to William’s apartment.

“And don’t forget, I’m also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”

And with that, I say goodnight.
