BATHING IN BUDAPEST

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I need these to get back to my authentic writing style that I loved ever so much in London. But alas, with London came rainy afternoons, warm cups of tea, and every excuse in the book to cozy up in bed and write to my hearts desire.

Now that I am traveling full time, I find myself barely getting enough sleep to make it to 3 PM that afternoon, constantly taking photos, packing and repacking every few hours {or so it feels}, and barely getting an email to my parents to tell them I’ve moved on to the next country.

Don’t get me wrong,

I love what I am doing.

I wouldn’t trade it for the world and I am one of the luckiest human beings to wake up each morning in a new city, country, or continent. But I miss the blog. I miss the writing. The therapy I create for myself and the peace it brings me.

So here I am at 11:57 PM, in a Croatian hostel, writing this post because I feel inspired.

{Again} as mentioned in my previous blog post, Budapest provided me with the tools I needed to continue my traveling. Love, sleep, and peace. To say which had more of an impact is questionable, but I’m leaning towards sleep. I was bathing myself in these three things.

As well as bathing myself in public.

If you are ever in Budapest, a unique, yet satisfying, experience are the Széchenyi Thermal Baths.

We are talking Vegas style pool party, without all of the Vegas…

Confusing? Sure.

But totally great for any afternoon. Rain or shine. Hot or cold. You will find indoor and outdoor baths of any temperature. Everyone wears their bathing suits, togs, swimming costume; whatever you call them in your country. Drinks are served poolside and a big screen television is positioned at one end of the pool for your watching pleasure.

Eric and I opted for wine and dipped our toes into every single pool. Other than, meh, two? But there are many, many pools. #goodeffort

Things to note include entry price, lockers, towels, and working hours.

The entry price eventually converted to about $25 USD for an afternoon, lockers are free with admission, and towels cost a few dollars to rent for the day {though you get most of this back when you return the towel}. You can stay for an entire afternoon and the pools close at 7 PM or 10 PM {depending on which pool}. Although the price is steep to attend a not-so-similar-to-Vegas pool party, the experience is unique and one we felt worth paying a little extra for.

Next up, we begin the craziness that is the Croatia Chronicles!
