The famous Kandy to Ella train ride was at the top of my list when it came to planning my two weeks in Sri Lanka. I knew I wanted to travel like a local, witness the breathtaking tea fields, and stick my feet out of an open doorway. All of which I did! Taiwan was a designated rest stop between two non-stop weeks in Nepal and India, and another ten non-stop days in Vietnam. Sometimes traveling becomes exhausting and it requires a bit of a “vacation”. Therefore, I didn’t plan on doing much sightseeing in Taipei, and instead, focused on cafes in Taipei.

On the second day of my stay at the Barauli Community Homestay, one of the local boys took us on a safari through Chitwan National Park. We traveled through marshy grassland, all the while keeping our eyes peeled for rhinos. You are never guaranteed a rhino sighting while on safari, so we got extremely lucky when we eventually came across a few.

After dusty, chaotic, noisy India, we made our way to Nepal. The contrast in countries was noticeable immediately. The streets were wider, quieter, and cleaner. The houses were built differently, and the residents residing in them were friendlier.

I knew prior to visiting India, that I should prepare myself for some pretty shocking sights. Honestly, living in Asia was preparation enough as I dodged oncoming traffic, received the most curious stares, and learned to expect the unexpected. Even so, there were a few things in India that left me speechless.
Visiting Varanasi was a huge priority for me when I started planning my trip to India. Alongside witnessing the Taj Mahal, and drinking all the masala chai tea in the country, it was high on my list of musts. From everything I’d heard and read online, Varanasi was the place in India that left the biggest impression on people. After spending two days in Varanasi, I can absolutely see why.
